LIFE letter to Progressive: Useless and annoyed
March 2006
ES wrote to LIFE: "Here's a little bit of feedback. I fully comprehend your issue and your analysis and you have my support. However, I personally find your tactic of sending lengthy list of quotes [to the PAR-L list] (each of which I fully comprehend) pretty close to useless. Like just about everyone on progressive list serves such as Par-l, I already have a really strong grasp of these issues and I am sympathic to your perspective. Drowning me in endless quotes that are in some way related to your argument just makes me feel annoyed."
LIFE wrote back:
Thank you for your response [E],
With all due respect, we at LIFE have now read tens of thousands of emails on 'progressive' list serves such as Par-l all of which were totally useless and annoying in that they didn't address the economic problems that the vast majority of people in the world are facing.
You sent us an email indicating that 'you have a strong grasp of the issues and are sympathetic to our perspective' and yet you haven't pointed to one single concrete political action that you or anyone else on Par-l has taken to solve the problem of global systemic poverty by providing every world citizen with a livable income.
Thus your feedback to LIFE has been extremely valuable in that we can publish it to prove to 'poor people' that 'progressives' such as yourself are part of the problem and not the solution.
In fact, staggering amounts of money and time have been squandering paying for list serves such as Par-l and for paying the salaries of 'progressives' who then write many millions of useless words during their careers many of which end on list serves such as Par-l where they accomplish nothing whatsoever.
On the other hand, if you actually had something useful to say about the economic problem of systemic poverty, you would just say it and not waste your time and our time 'giving us a little bit of feedback.'
To conclude, the billions of average people living in poverty all over the world need to know that 'progressives' and 'progressive list serves' such as Par-l are now a major part of the problem and not the solution. For providing LIFE with more proof that this is the case, we thank you.
Sincerely,LIFE
P.S. Here's a bit more feedback: If you think you're 'annoyed' imagine how 'poor people' feel about the hundreds of billions of dollars and staggering amounts of time that are squandered by 'progressives' every year in the utterly futile attempt to solve economic problems by 'doing research' and 'writing reports' and 'sending emails' about 'putting on conferences.'
If fact, we have many annoying 'reports' that are many times longer than LIFE's 'quote posts' to Par-l that are issued by many annoying progressive organizations and that drone on and on about this or that 'social problem' while never even once mentioning the obvious economic fact that every world citizen needs a guaranteed livable income.
